The purpose of the Visiting Christian Science Nursing Service of New Jersey is to provide Christian Science nursing care on a temporary, hourly basis to individuals living in New Jersey relying solely on Christian Science for healing.

INDIVIDUAL CARE

Loving reassurance in assessing needs and providing individual care consistent with the teachings of Christian Science.

ENCOURAGEMENT

Christian encouragement of an individual's expression of life, normal activity and natural vitality.

PERSONAL CARE

Assisting with all necessary care to meet the needs of cleanliness and comfort such as bathing, commoding, and oral care.

MOBILITY

Assisting with mobility, including assisting with standing, walking, moving, and settling with or without mobility aids or comfort items.

NOURISHMENT

Preparing and modifying food, assisting with feeding: giving appropriate encouragement to eat.

CLEANSING/
BANDAGING

Proper cleansing and bandaging to provide protection, support, and comfort.

INSTRUCTION

Instructing the one being nursed or the care giver in meeting individual needs.

COMMUNICATION

Maintaining an ethical, moral, and loving manner in all communications with the patient, family, friends, Christian Science practitioner, and others. All visits are strictly confidential.

READING ALOUD

Reading from the Bible, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, other writings by Mary Baker Eddy, and authorized Christian Science Literature.

AVAILABLE SUPPORT

The Visiting Christian Science Nursing Service of New Jersey has mobility aids, commodes, wheel chairs, and Christian Science CDs
and DVDs.
